Collective momentum is rising in India to tackle the climate crisis and avert predicted losses to life and the economy. Yet, available finance – public, private, and philanthropic – falls far short of what India needs to meet its international obligations and build resilience to adverse climate impacts. Combining quantitative and qualitative insights gained through a series of conversations with and publicly available data from 65 funders (Corporate Social Responsibility, domestic, and international), this assessment identifies and analyses three prominent trends in strategies for climate philanthropy in India.
